LOSERS Shawn Andrews: Didn't play a single snap at Lehigh for the second straight year. I can hear Jon Runyan's voice in the locker room already.
Lorenzo Booker: Entered camp competing for the No. 2 RB spot. Leaves with legit questions about his chance to make the team. Third-stringer Eldra Buckley, a hard runner, has more value in short-yardage and goal-line scenarios than Booker does. for the rest click here

Now back to the game . . . Mornhinweg opened his weekly trip to the podium at the NovaCare Complex by giving his assessment of Thursday's preseason game.
Then he fielded 18 questions and, predictably, all but one was about Vick. He started to answer the 18th one about how much film he has watched on the Eagles' new quarterback, then switched gears in midthought.
"Let's get back to the game," he said, announcing that he thought running back Eldra Buckley played well http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/20090817_Eagles_Notes___Lineman_Peters_cites_snap-count_trouble.html

Once again, the Eagles have a running back named Buck. Correll Buckhalter is now with the Broncos after eight years in Philadelphia, but Eldra Buckley has quietly had a solid preseason.
Buckley, who spent the last two years on the Chargers' practice squad, has been particularly impressive as a receiver. He caught six passes for a game-high 56 yards against the Patriots and scored TDs both rushing and receiving.
"It took a lot of work for me to get comfortable (in the receiving game)," Buckley said. "We did some of it (in San Diego), but we do more here. I like (catching the ball) and I feel like I can make plays running or receiving." For the full story click here

Running Back: Eldra Buckley has been continuing to impress after his sensational performance in week one (8 rushes for 23 yds and 1 TD, 6 rec for 56 yds and 1 TD) and lit up the third-string offense. During the only two live plays of Monday's practice, Buckley gained big chunks of yardage, showing once again his big-play ability. Watch out, Lorenzo Booker, looks like your days are numbered. Lorenzo Booker needs a great game this Thursday in order to fend off rising Camp star Eldra Buckley. It seems every time I check in with the Eagles, I hear Buckley's name. He had a great first preseason game vs. the Patriots, with 2 TD's (1 rushing, 1 receiving). In practice he is showing his knack for big plays as well. Lorenzo Booker was a highly sought college standout by Andy Reid and company, but after we finally acquired him last year, he hasn't shown much. These last few weeks will be a fun competition to watch. For the full story click here

McCoy, the Eagles' vaunted rookie running back and second-round pick, is serving an apprenticeship to All-Pro running back Brian Westbrook, even as McCoy replaces Westbrook on the first-team offense.
Buckley, a second-year pro merely trying to crack the roster, spent his only NFL season on the Chargers, studying and digesting the greatness of LaDainian Tomlinson.
"I learned how to be a pro (from Tomlinson), that's the biggest thing,"' Buckley said, "How to control the game, how to take it and go get it, let it be to your advantage."
The biggest lesson Tomlinson imparted on Buckley? full story and photos at here

THE EAGLES HAVE to trim down from 80 to 75 players this coming Tuesday, then they must cut down to the regular-season limit of 53 by Saturday, Sept. 5.
Two preseason games, including tonight's heavily emphasized matchup with the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars, will be played before that final number must be reached. But we are willing to take a stab at predicting the roster right now. As is the case most years, there really isn't as much uncertainty as you would think - the real uncertainty tends to revolve around how healthy the starters are and how good the key subs are, rather than who's on the team.
Commissioner Roger Goodell can have an impact on what happens. If the Eagles know before the final cutdown that Michael Vick will not have to serve a regular-season suspension (which could last up to five games), they almost certainly would carry the normal quota of three quarterbacks. Most likely, those are Donovan McNabb, Vick and Kevin Kolb, with A.J. Feeley hitting the marketplace.
If Vick is suspended for the start of the season, or his status remains unclear, a couple of things could happen. If Andy Reid feels it is crucial that Vick remain able to practice, he could carry four QBs, and go light elsewhere. Or if it's a brief suspension, Reid could gamble on getting through a game or two with McNabb and Kolb as his only QBs. If Reid doesn't think Vick has to be practicing while he's suspended, he could put Vick on the exempt list and keep the other three on the roster until Vick is eligible. This scenario would be even worse for Feeley, who then would be looking for work after the start of the season. I'm saying Vick to the exempt list, the other three on the season-opening roster, for now.
(4, including 1 fullback)
Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy are 1 and 2, with McCoy probably looking at a greater role than any rookie runner in the
Reid Era. If it's my team (and for this assessment, it is), Eldra Buckley is a clear No. 3. Given fullback Leonard Weaver's versatility, I don't need a No. 4 running back, which is bad news for Kyle Eckel and Lorenzo Booker, but we have some numbers crunches at other positions. http://www.philly.com/dailynews/sports/columnists/20090827_Les_Bowen__A_stab_at_predicting_who_makes_Eagles_cut.html
