With longtime bookend tackles Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan gone, McNabb and Westbrook take on a bigger leadership role. They're the ones the young players turn to for advice, direction and encouragement. Westbrook did his part Friday, chatting up second-round pick LeSean McCoy and third-year pro Eldra Buckley, who has never played in an NFL game. http://www.macon.com/321/story/795594.html

But the wait for the hitting wasn't worth the wait as the Birds offense kept it pretty simple mostly running the ball, said Mosher.
The only big highlight play of the morning session came when third-string back Eldra Buckley ripped off a 40-yard run, he said. http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/sports/Overheard-at-Camp-7-31-52202317.html

With all eyes fixated on second-round pick LeSean McCoy's competition against maligned incumbent Lorenzo Booker, third-stringer Eldra Buckley somehow managed to steal the spotlight.
Buckley was easily the most impressive of the three Friday in the team's first contact scrimmage at Lehigh. The second-year pro, claimed off waivers from the Chargers, ripped off a 45-yard run on his first carry -- the longest run by any back for the scrimmage. http://www.courierpostonline.com/article/20090801/SPORTS02/908010340/1002/SPORTS/Buckley-impresses--not-McCoy

Running back's LeSean McCoy, a rookie second-round draft pick from the University of Pittsburgh and Eldra Buckley, a waiver pickup in March, both absorbed punishing pops.
But both also shined. McCoy was gangtackled after slipping in the backfield, and thinking that the play was dead, he got up slowly. Then, was drilled back down.
He later joked about it.
Buckley had some very good runs, ripping off one 40-yard gain and mauling for effective other 5-to-10-yard gains, but the former first-team All-Southern Conference back from the University of Tennesee-Chattanooga twice had his helmet knocked off.
The crowd roared both times Buckley rose as if not bothered both times. Later, coach Andy Reid said that he was happy about the intensity level of the overall practice. http://blogs.mcall.com/eagles/2009/07/eagles-practice-intensifies-with-fullcontact.html

Although he's never played in a regular-season game, Buckley has spent two years on the San Diego Chargers' practice squad, and his experience is paying off handsomely so far. http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/sports/index.ssf/2009/08/eldra_buckleys_experience_show.html

Offensively, rookie LeSean McCoy has taken a clear lead over Lorenzo Booker in the race to become running back Brian Westbrook's backup. Free agent Eldra Buckley also bears watching tonight. An unexpected battle has arisen on the offensive line. It was assumed that free agent Stacy Andrews had a lock on the starting job at right guard, but Reid is not ready to demote Nick Cole just yet.

A first-year player who spent last season on the Chargers' practice squad, Buckley has played like a hard-hitting 5-foot-9, 215-pound machine in the first week. http://www.mcall.com/sports/football/eagles/all-eaglesnotes.6976900aug02,0,4550910.story

So Eagles Flight Night was a huge success, with just under 32,000 fans showed up to Lincoln Financial Field to watch PRACTICE (that's crazy, I love Philly). They saw Eldra Buckley and Lorenzo Booker put on a good show, as well as Quintin Mikell and Joe Mays fly around the ball. They also saw two injuries that could spell disaster if they prove to be serious. Read the whole story by clicking here
