The "MIDLANDS" (12/29-30/09) @ Northwestern "if we are scheduled to return" The "NCAA National Wrestling Championships" (3/18-19-20/10) @ Omaha. * Yes, "Bono will be missed". It was a short stay, but he set-the-bar higher, and he is leaving the program in a better position, then when he got here. One major accomplishment while under Bono's regime, that stands out, is the team's APR greatly improved. papa1L wishes coach Bono, Niki and their girls, all-the-best back in Iowa.

Posts: 1452 (06/09/09 09:04 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	This is just my opion, everyone else may feel differnt, but if a coach has only been at a place for less than four years and he or she decides to leave I don't believe they should be helping pick their replacement.If a coach has been at a place say 20 plus years and wants to push one of his or her assitants or a former player at retirement time, then that's understandable, they have earned the right to have a say in the matter..Just one man's opion..I heard a few months ago that either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State was on the home schedule for 2009..I forget which one.. I would also retain the right to do whatever I please. The coach can recommend, then the AD hires based on his own conclusions.

Smart leaders take input/information from people they trust and beleive in. Then they use all of that input/information along with their own thoughts, convictions, and wherewithall to make the final choice. That appears to be what Rick is doing. I don't thinkit is simply Bono coming to Rick and saying "this is the man who will be the next coach" and then Rick just giving it the old rubber stamp.
