Michelle Davis can't help the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Saturday's game against Georgia Southern, or in any other game this season. But that doesn't mean the 6-foot-2 former Cleveland High School standout isn't playing a valuable role for the Lady Mocs.
Forced to sit out this season after transferring from North Carolina State - she spent about two weeks in Raleigh, N.C., before deciding that UTC was actually where she wanted to be - Davis' presence in practice has been valuable since the start of the preseason.
However, now that the Lady Mocs are down to nine healthy bodies, her presence is vital. And for her own benefit, she gets to play inside against two of the top post players in the Southern Conference in Shanara Hollinquest and Erin Ogan. Thursday, Hollinquest was named the SoCon women's basketball athlete of the month, joining UTC wrestler Cody Cleveland with the January designation.
