Track Opens Outdoor Season at Alabama Relays
"We had a great indoor season and this will be a good way to work our way into the outdoor season," Chattanooga head coach Bill Gautier said. "This will give the newcomers a good opportunity to compete at this level."
The Mocs will concentrate on the Distance Medley Relay. Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.) will lead off the Mocs Team A with the 1200. Kiaana Howard (Nashville, Tenn.) will run the 400 for the Mocs followed by Hannah Chamblin (Memphis, Tenn.) and anchored by cross country All-American Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario).
Chattanooga's Team B will consist of Jessica York (Normandy, Tenn.), Makala Diggs (Box Elder, S.D.), freshman Hailey Morris (Lenoir City, Tenn.) and anchored by Emily Drouin (Verona, Ontario).
Teams representing 35 schools will compete at this year's Alabama Relays, ranging from junior college to large universities: Alabama, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Alabama-Huntsville, Allen County Community College, Auburn, Belhaven, Belmont, Georgia Tech, Hinds Community College, Jackson State, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Loyola-New Orleans, Memphis, Meridian Community College, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Mississippi, Mississippi Valley State, Morehouse, New Orleans, Ohio State, Samford, Southeastern Louisiana, Shorter, South Alabama, Southern Illinois, Southern Mississippi, Stillman, Troy, Tulane, UAB, Chattanooga and Wisconsin-Parkside.
Friday's track and field events will begin at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time with Saturday getting a 1:00 p.m. start. Results and streaming video on the SEC Network+ are available on the track schedule at GoMocs.com.
