Senior Emily McLennan won Southern Conference Golfer of the Week honors for her excellent play at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic.RESULTS | NOTES
SPARTANBURG, S.C.--- Chattanooga Mocs senior Emily McLennan earned Southern Conference Golfer of the Week after leading the Mocs to a runner-up finish at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic Feb. 28 through March 1. The 2014 Southern Conference Champion earned her third career individual win after she tied for medalist honors with Troy's Fatima Cano at 210 (-6).
McLennan is now second all-time in wins behind Emma de Groot (6). She also passed former teammate and current Ladies European Tour player Agathe Sauzon, who had two individual wins. She also tied her career-low score of 67, and her 210 (-6) total score is her second best career total behind her 205 (-11) performance at the 2015 Fall Invitational earlier this season.
Over the final 18 at the tournament, she tallied six birdies, which tied her season high and is the 12th time this season with four or more birdies, including a four-birdie performance in the first round. McLennan also passed de Groot for the school record of most birdies with 292 in her career.
McLennan has 27 par or better rounds for her career with an opening 68 and closing 69, and she has 10 for this season which ties a season record with Jordan Britt (2013-14) and de Groot (32). She is now second all-time on the career list behind de Groot (32). McLennan also has five rounds in the 60s this season and nine for her career.
