Women's Track Heads to SoCon Championships
The women's Pentathlon will start the action at 10:00 a.m. Central Time. The Mocs will kick of competition with the Mile prelims at 2:05. Junior Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) will lead a crew of Mocs in the race.
"The Mile is a relatively new race for Teghan," Chattanooga head coach Bill Gautier said. "She normally runs the longer distances, but this will be a good race for her. She has a good time and should do well."
Henderson ranks third in the Mile in the SoCon standings with a time of 4:58.32 posted on February 6 at the Middle Tennessee Invitational. Junior Jessica York (Normandy, Tenn.) ranks ninth in the standings in the event with a time of 5:10.89 posted in the season opening Emory Crossplex Invitational on January 24 in Birmingham.
Sophomore Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.) holds the top time in the 800 meter after setting the school record with a time of 2:11.06 at the Samford Invitational, more than six seconds faster than any other time in the league. Junior Hannah Chamblin's (Memphis, Tenn.) time ranks fourth at that distance at 2:18.85.
