With Thursday night's late announcement that Virginia Commonwealth head basketball coach Shaka Smart has accepted the same position at the University of Texas, the Rams are on the clock as the latest team looking for a coach.
That search could extend to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The Times Free Press has learned that Will Wade, who just completed his second season as head coach of the Mocs, is expected to be on a short list of potential replacements for Smart. Wade was an assistant at VCU for four seasons before taking over the Mocs' program in May of 2013.

I know this is kind of conspiracy theory, but it does fit together into a neat storyline. Again, very conspiracy theory, but I am beginning to think all these coaching changes are more conspiracy theory than I ever thought until the last two or three years.
Interesting, but not the way I heard it went down, but neither of us were in the room in Charlotte.
Big time VCU guy on twitter is pumping up Jeremy Ballard this morning.

“Style of play is important for our student athletes,” McLaughlin said, noting also that VCU owns a trademark on the Havoc style for which VCU and Shaka Smart are famous. “I really think our program has elevated to a nationally elite level program. Will Wade, Chattanooga: Will Wade just finished his second year at Chattanooga and has lead the Mocs to a 40-25 mark so far. Wade is an energetic young coach who has instilled a HAVOC style brand in Tennessee that he calls CHAOS. There were rumors that Wade was in line for the Charlotte vacancy but they obviously went in a different direction. The knock on Wade at this point is his relative inexperience as a young head coach, he's 32 years old, and the fact that he hasn't been able to have success in the postseason going 0-3 in the Southern Conference Tournament and the CIT combined. The jury is still out on Wade as he inherited a tremendous wealth of talent with the Mocs in Z Mason, Casey Jones, and others. The one key contributor he has brought in is VCU transfer Justin Tuoyo.
