Being shown below means that somewhere somehow they have been linked to UTC recruiting at some point at time. That can vary from getting a letter to active full scale daily recruiting calls. Undoubtly some players shown below are no longer receiving any interest from UTC, it just means that they did at one time. There also obviously many more that have been looked at, contacted, and recruited at some level of interest by UTC. Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	MURFREESBORO — Pope John Paul II standout Joshua Phillips, a 6-foot-8 all-state forward, has verbally committed to sign with MTSU basketball. Phillips averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds per game last season, garnering TSWA all-state honors. He chose MTSU over scholarship offers from Belmont, UT-Chattanooga, Stony Brook and Stetson, and he was also recruited by Temple and DePaul. “He had a lot of interest, especially over the past four or five months, but I thought MTSU would be a good fit for him,” JPII coach Kip Brown said. “But he made his decision, and I think it was a good one. He is still growing and still has room for improvement, but he’ll do well at MTSU.” Despite his size (6-8, 215), Phillips is relatively young. He won’t turn 18 until the summer following his senior year. Brown said Phillips is a “very good defensive player, shot blocker and rebounder, and he has a nice jump shot and really has a presence around the basket.” Phillips is MTSU’s third commitment in the last three weeks. He joins 6-4 guard Rahkeem Lehaman (Amanda Elzy High, Greenwood, Miss.) and 6-5 wing Eric Wortham Jr. (Eagles Landing High in McDonough, Ga.). Verbal commitments are non-binding. The senior guard from Villa Angela-St. Joseph on Monday gave his verbal commitment to play basketball at Division I Evansville (Ind.) of the Missouri Valley Conference. "It feels very good. It takes a lot of pressure off me now," Gibson said. "Now I've got to finish off my grades, get to state and win a championship." Gibson's announcement is the second in a row for the Vikings, coming on the heels of forward Demonte Flannigan announcing his intentions to play college basketball at Cleveland State There's a lot of pressure on us now, a lot of expectations," Gibson said of him and his VASJ teammates. "People are going to expect a lot of us this year." A 6-foot-3 guard, Gibson earned second team All-Ohio honors in Division IV last season. He averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists as a junior. He said his other finalists were Robert Morris and Indiana-Purdue/Fort Wayne. Other offers came from Tennessee-Chattanooga, Bethune-Cookman and Fairmount State. Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	GAUTIER -- Tevin Broyles is far from the most talked-about basketball player in 5A Division 7, but that hasn't stopped colleges from taking notice. The Gautier senior will sign with the University of New Orleans Wednesday, the first day of the NCAA's early signing period. The 6-foot-4 guard/forward averaged 14.1 points and 10.4 rebounds for the Gators in 2011-12, and often matched up on defense against the likes of Moss Point's Devin Booker and Pascagoula's Tracy Hadley. "T-Baby's the kind of player you just don't see all that often -- a 6-4, 200-pound guy who can really handle the ball," Gautier coach Keith McQueen said. "He's equally good with with his left hand and his right hand, and can contribute with the outside shot as well as on defense. He also rebounds the ball extremely well for his size." Broyles also drew recruiting interest from the likes of Tennessee State, Southern Miss and Chattanooga, but ultimately settled on the Privateers.
