The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team exhibited a lot of potential and a lot of room for improvement Thursday night at McKenzie Arena. In an exhibition game against Lee University, Cleveland native Michelle Davis, in her first action since transferring to UTC last fall, scored a game-high
19 points against her hometown school in the Lady Mocs' 86-53 win. The 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman also had seven rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench.

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team shook off a slow start to cruise to an 86-53 exhibition win over Lee University tonight in the McKenzie Arena. Both teams struggled in the early part of the contest, combing to go 0-9 with eight turnovers in the first
four minutes of the game. Chattanooga finally got on the board with a steal and lay-in by senior Megan Rollins (Monteagle, Tenn.).

TFP story doesn't mention that Megan Rollins was back in the game after getting smacked in a collision - She had gotten the first two buckets of the game
and looked really comfortable on the court.
Kiara Smith also looked emotionally ready to play, but had a big brace on her knee that was somewhat of an impediment - still she was impressive since I had never seen her play before. This team will be fun to watch getting going - everybody that got on the court last night looked pretty good (except the officials, of course...) Over all, it is wonderful to be in this time of year with several sports in action - GO MOCS! |

BTW...doesn't this result sound like 95% of all Lady Moc games?
Started a little slow...made a run right before the half...wasn't a game the rest of the way. Here's to the status quo in 2010!!!! Wes, I don't like exciting...I like boring games that lead 25+ wins and the NCAA's!

CHATTANOOGA - It was only an exhibition game against a UT-Chattanooga team that has become a NCAA power under coach Wes Moore, but Lee women's basketball
coach Marty Rowe would have loved to have taken more positives away from McKenzie Arena on Thursday evening.
The Lady Mocs surged in the final 10 minutes of the second half and pinned a convincing 86-53 loss on the Lady Flames. Rowe's ladies had come back from a terrible first five minutes of the contest to cut a 32-18 UTC halftime margin to just 11 early in the second 20 minutes and force coach Moore to call a timeout. As quickly as Lee posted the comeback, the Lady Mocs took advantage of a size advantage inside and pulled away click here for the rest |

I thought Lee was hacking most of the night which you get from inferior teams. They should do well in their conference. Coach Rowe doesn't need to get
stressed too much. If we have a decent offensive start at all we put them away by the half. I like the new ones who played and our veterans that played were
very poised which was a great leadership element. Townsend will settle down, she's definetly improved. Christopher has the makings of a star guard. Our
post play was very solid for the most part though the bush league calls about took Helton's game away at times. I'll be glad when those gals in dresses
start wearing Lady Mocs uniforms.
