Lady Mocs sweep UNC Greensboro
Staff Reports

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga second baseman Brittney Whittier provided the offense and the Lady Mocs two pitching stars combined for a threehit shutout as UTC beat UNC Greensboro 4-0 in Greensboro on Sunday to sweep the weekend series.
Whittier, a senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., went 2-for-3 and hit a threerun home run in the top of the second inning driving in third baseman Toni Hutchison and right fielder Tara Tembey. The Lady Mocs (23-20, 5-1 Southern Conference) added another run in the sixth inning when Temby scored from second on a play that resulted in an error by UNCG shortstop Adriane Audley.
UTC senior Ashley Frizzell started the game and went three and a third innings, giving up two hits before being relieved by freshman Brooke Loudermilk. Loudermilk (13-8 ) gave up one hit and struck out six of the 14 batters she faced to finish the game and was credited with the win.
Coach Frank Reed was pleased with his teams performance on the weekend, in which they held the Lady Spartans (20-23, 1-5 ) scoreless over the three games.
I didnt think (pitchers Frizzell and Loudermilk) were as sharp today, Reed said. But you look up and there are only three hits, so thats not bad. The Lady Mocs will continue their road swing Wednesday when they play a double header against Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala. They will return to Southern Conference play this weekend when they visit Western Carolina for a three-game series.
