But, there is a big difference between making a half court shot and acting in movie. The key word being acting. You are not benefiting as a pro in any way (like making a half court shot), you just got the job because you "look the part."

What if you got paid to act in a local play and your character wasn't an athlete?

What is the real difference between the two? Nothing, because both are an acting part...neither is an actual athletic competition.

The N.C.A.A. permits athletes to compete and collect salaries in a pro sport and still retain eligibility in a different sport. But N.C.A.A. rules do not permit athletes to receive income from sponsorships, endorsements, modeling, acting and other nonsalaried work.
