How about Dr. Sam Dixon? He was a Davidson men's assistant and the head coach of Furman's women. Michele Savage coaches Davidson's women right now. I'd love to see Brandon Williams on Davidson's sideline, but he is way too successful to work as an assistant coach. http://www.linkedin.com/p...don-d-williams/4/718/58b

A lot of schools feel 'forced' to hire black head coaches. They make hires out of fear that someone will accuse them of racism if they don't give interviewing and hiring preferences to black applicants. I think we are free of that. Davidson hires the best candidate. This year it was Coach Savage. I look at some programs and see a team that is primarily black while the rest if the students and all the fans are almost all white. Schools like UConn and Georgetown, for instance. I'm sure you can think of many others. Check out the graduation rates that some of those schools have for their black athletes. Shameful. The school brings them in, profits from their talents, and then discards them without a degree. To me, that is a far more racist approach to athletics. Davidson doesn't have a ton of black athletes or black students in general. Skin tone really isn't important. They are students. They go to class. They graduate.
