I remember well sitting in the stands for the last game of the season in 2008, along with a couple hundred other people who were probably just the player's families seeing as how it was senior day. We got hammered by a mediocre Samford team and thus ended a season in which we went winless, I hardly think the one win over Cumberland University counts. 0-11. That was soul crushing stuff. That was "do we even want to continue funding the program?" stuff.
As disappointed as I am that Huesman is leaving, I haven't forgotten where we were before he arrived here. Coach Huesman saved this program. Going from 0-11 to a winning season the next year, how amazing was that? The motto from the start was "Restore the Glory." Coach did that and more. I have absolutely enjoyed every bit of the last 8 seasons.
I know we'll all continue to guess on why he left, but don't let that overshadow appreciation for what he did for us.
